Francis Cape: Utopian Benches

The show, Cape’s first solo exhibition in the Portland area, is comprised of twenty reconstructed benches originally designed for American utopian communities. Cape has remade each seat based on a careful study of available examples and measured drawings, many obtained from his own research.

Lisi Raskin & Kimberly Kay: MotorPArk

Raskin is known for creating large-scale, fantastical handmade environments that refer to the often clandestine fallout shelters and missile silos constructed during the Cold War. For this exhibition, she will create a truck house which will be utilized as a studio, classroom, and performance space while  parked in MECA’s green space on Casco Street. On select weekends the truck house will hit the road heading to Maine’s distant corners.

Megawords

Megawords is an experimental media project that takes the form of an independently published photography magazine and related installation projects and public events. Through our work we create an ongoing narrative that examines daily life in cities through the documentation of our surroundings and experience, with a voice free from commercialization and competing novelties.
