As a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and trauma specialist, Keita brings more than 23 years of experience to MECA. Keita earned her MSW and BSW in the field of Social Work from the University of Southern Maine, where she received public research recognition for her graduate thesis, Dialogues in Diversity: Multicultural Students Sharing their Realities in Portland Maine. In 2002, Keita worked on a team to design the Cultivating Multicultural Alliances (CMA) platform providing educational dialogues on diversity and race for nonprofits and institutions of higher education. Keita has taught at Southern Maine Community College, Andover/Kaplan, and Seeds of Peace Camp. She was integral to the development of MECA’s current Diversity Statement and Compact, leading workshops and conversations that helped establish the statement.

Keita is also a certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor, specializing in Somatic gentle restorative yoga. She is deeply committed to Maine’s communities, having volunteered with the NAACP Portland branch, the gubernatorial committee on poverty, and the Abyssinian Restoration Project.
