In their artistic practice, Ian composes colorful, expressive gestures utilizing intersecting elements of sculpture, drawing, and painting. A gender non-conforming artist, Ian presents self-portraits that challenge social constructs surrounding identity. Each portrait is a “Frankenstein” of layered semiotics, including visual motifs of lived experiences both past and present.
They have been an artist resident of the Stephen Pace House in Stonington, ME, in 2019. In addition to their visual work, they also co-curated the annual MECA&D Bachelor of Fine Arts Thesis exhibition in 2020.
