Screening of historic, narrative shorts from the 1970s — “Domestic Tranquility” and “Sweet Bananas” — followed by Q&A talkback with director Ariel Dougherty on the films, the history of Women Make Movies, and the future for filmmakers who want to make narrative films about women and girls. The screening will be approximately 45 minutes with 30 minutes for Q&A afterward.
This event is part of the Bluestocking Film Series— an exclusive showcase for provocative, well-produced films that feature complex female protagonists driving the narrative and leading the action. All short fiction films must feature a female protagonist, submissions must also pass the Bechdel-Wallace Test.
