49 Oak is an extension of MECA&D that provides students and alumni opportunities to exhibit their work and experiment with ideas. Whether it's a pop up shop or an exhibition of new work, this space fosters experimentation and encourages students and alumni to think big.

On View: Noise Collective Pop Up Shop

March 3-26, 2023

Now through March 26, stop by our 49 Oak gallery and exhibition space to shop handcrafted works from Noise Collective, a cohort of BFA students from our Printmaking Department. Items for sale include tee shirts, art prints, buttons, tote bags, and more.

Noise Collective is “a student-run artist collective and family of printmakers who advocate for one another, establish social and artistic connections, and find chances to market and sell their work.” Noise Collective grew from a shared studio space where Printmaking students Winslow Trainum ‘24 and Ana Lucia ‘24 exchanged ideas with such enthusiasm that they quickly received a noise complaint. The incident inspired them to form a printmaking collective with a passion for art that is too loud to be ignored.

The Noise Collective pop-up shop is the second event hosted at 49 Oak, our street-level gallery space where students present their work and host activities tied to classroom projects (e.g., pop-up shops, public engagement partnerships, and thematic exhibitions). Administered by Artists at Work, with faculty support, students learn how to curate, install, promote, document, sell, and staff exhibitions.

The Noise Collective Pop-Up will be held on:

  • Wednesday, March 8, 15, & 22 (8-9pm)
  • Friday, March 10, 17, & 24 (3-9pm)
  • Saturday, March 11, 18, & 25 (10-5pm)
  • Sunday, March 12, 19, & 26 (12-5pm)
Hours fluctuate, so be sure to follow Noise Collective on Instagram (@noise_collective_) for updates.
