“The podcast industry is changing all the time. There are some very big podcast companies and the job market is strong,” said Kestenbaum. “But we’re still teaching the basic skills too, how do you find a good story, how do you report it responsibly.”


Salt Institute featured in Portland Press Herald

On November 7, 2021, reporter Ray Routhier from the Portland Press Herald published, “In latest pivot, Salt Institute adds a focus on podcasting,” looking at how the Maine College of Art & Design program has evolved to address changing vehicles for documentary storytelling.

Today, the Salt Institute offers graduate programs in radio, podcasting, and short film. Graduates work for national radio or podcasting companies, such as National Public Radio, Vox and StoryCorps.

The Institute also offers a Pre-College podcast program in the summer for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors interested in jumpstarting their work and building strong college portfolios.
