Sculpture major Rob Doane '13, has received the Cape Cod Modern House Residency. The residency is a week-long stay for artists and scholars whose work relates to the story of the modern movement, the mid-20-century creative convergence on Outer Cape Cod or the Cape’s particular landscape. Rob's work begins with the contemporary found object. While he has minimal and modernist preferences in his work, the results are edgy, occasionally mocking, and filled with perceptual richness. Sound, odor, embedded video and intense color are used to create contemporary content. Rob will have a chance to focus on his own work during the residency and this gift of time should provide an exciting opportunity to develop new work and new ideas in advance of his senior year at Maine College of Art & Design.
