John Bisignano (1929-2021), Full Bloom Floral, acrylic on board, 18.5” x 16.5” framed, $600.
For the month of July, paintings created by the late prolific Maine artist John Bisignano (1929-2021) will be on display in the front window of Maine College of Art & Design’s Porteous Building. The exhibit is a fundraiser for the John Bisignano and Bettina Swirkal Memorial Scholarship Fund at MECA&D.
Bisignano attended the Art Students League in New York City and participated in more than 50 solo shows and roughly 100 group shows over the course of his career. His work is owned by private collections throughout the United States.
In 2014, the artist established the John Bisignano and Bettina Swirkal Memorial Scholarship Fund to advance his heartfelt wish to create a foundation for young aspiring artists who do not have the resources for college. Following his passing at age 91, this endowed fund through the Maine Community Foundation was made available to provide scholarship assistance to MECA&D students from Maine. This meaningful gift serves as a lasting legacy to John and his wife.
If you are interested in purchasing any of the paintings on view, please contact Annie Wadleigh, Assistant Director of Development at 207-699-5015 or awadleigh@meca.edu.
