Brigid Lawler Has Been Named MECA’s New Director of Admissions and Jennifer Doebler Has Been Hired as Director of Student Life.
Maine College of Art recently announced two new administrative hires. On January 8, 2018, Brigid Lawler will assume MECA’s Director of Admissions post and Jennifer Doebler will begin serving as Director of Student Life.
Brigid Lawler brings over 20 years of experience in admissions and recruitment, most recently as Dean of Admissions at Marlboro College in VT. Prior to Brigid’s nearly five years at Marlboro, she was Director of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Baltimore. She also has experience in graduate admissions, as well as financial aid and career services in both higher education as well as in private K-12 schools.
Executive Vice President Beth Elicker said, “We are fortunate to have someone with Brigid’s depth of experience and breadth of skills joining MECA’s admissions team.” In addition to her many administrative skills, Brigid holds a Pastry & Baking Arts Diploma from the Institute of Culinary Education in New York.
Jennifer Doebler has experience serving as Assistant Director of Residence Life at both the University of Redlands in California and Simmons College in Massachusetts. She was also Orientation Program Coordinator, Freshman Seminar Instructor, Leadership Seminar Instructor, and Associate Director of First Year Experience and Students in Transition at the University of Minnesota. She holds a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from the University of Redlands and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Minnesota.
“Jennifer’s enthusiasm, innovative approaches, and strong collaborative skills make her a great fit for this role,” said Ian Anderson, MECA’s Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College. “She brings programming skills in residence life, experience in assessment and training development, and holistic conflict management skills, along with the unusual addition of complementary business and analytical skills. We are fortunate to have found her, and she has already demonstrated an eagerness to begin her work here building on our current student community.”
