Maine College of Art & Design Presents
A Limited Edition Fine Art Print by Dahlov Ipcar
In honor of nationally known artist Dahlov Ipcar (1917-2017), and the ongoing legacy of the arts in Maine, Maine College of Art & Design created a set of limited edition woodblock prints based on Dahlov’s iconic oil painting, Odalisque (1960), in collaboration with master printer David Wolfe, of Wolfe Editions, under the supervision of the artist.
“I felt so inspired by the endless possibilities of patterns, that I changed my whole art style. I began to use much more decorative designs in my paintings, on both animals and foliage. Odalisque (1960) was one of my first uses of pattern.”
In 2013, MECA&D awarded Dahlov Ipcar with the Award for Leadership as a Visual Artist and the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Fine Arts. Dahlov has offered only a handful of woodblock prints for sale in her career. Proceeds go to benefit MECA&D’s Student Scholarship Fund. This print is available for a limited time for $1,250. Shipping within the U.S. is an additional $25.
