We are grateful for the support of our co-sponsors Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram and the Holt Family Fund and the King and Jean Cummings Charitable Trust Fund,
both of the Maine Community Foundation. The Scholastic Art Awards are a national competition for young artists in grades 7 through 12 and are the longest running student recognition program for the visual arts in the United States. Gold Key recipients in the Maine College of Art Regional Scholastic Art Awards Exhibition will compete on the national level for $1,000,000 in cash awards and scholarships.
Congressional District Art Award recipients will represent the State of Maine by exhibiting their artwork in Congressional hall in Washington, D.C. Additional awards on the regional level include a scholarship to MECA's Saturday School and a scholarship to MECA's Early College program. This year's art awards brought 341 submissions from 287 young artists representing 11 middle schools and 36 high schools. MECA is proud to showcase the talents of these artists in the Porteous building.
