Kenneth White, Core Faculty
Kenneth White is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, and curator. He is presently a Ph.D. candidate in art history / film studies at Stanford University. His research concerns the relationship between the history of psychoanalytic discourse and avant-garde film and video practices of the 1960s and 70s. His writing is published in Screen, The Symptom: Jacques Lacan in the U.S., Quarterly Review of Film & Video, Trumbull Magazine, INCITE!: Journal of Experimental Media + Radical Aesthetics, Millennium Film Journal, and Canadian Journal of Film Studies, among others. His essay "Consider the lemur: Eric Bessel’s arrangement of skin" will be published in the exhibition catalogue Eric Bessel: Portraits (forthcoming 2011). For Millennium Film Journal he is editing a special issue section on Carolee Schneemann (forthcoming 2011). White has made presentations in many conferences and symposia, most recently as a guest lecturer at McGill University, Montréal (November 2010). He served as a panel discussant at the exhibition Carolee Schneemann: Within and Beyond the Premises at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art, State University of New York at New Paltz (April 2010). Recent curatorial projects include Just look around this place, a program of new works in video for Baer Ridgway Exhibitions of San Francisco (22 January 2010). In July 2006, White co-founded the Portland Film + Video Artists Collective. White received his B.F.A. in film production from Syracuse University.
