:
academic support
A variety
of academic support is available to MECA students. This includes
accommodations for students with disabilities as well as tutoring
and advising for all students.
Advising
Academic advising
is an important part of the MECA experience. As an entering
student, you will be assigned a faculty advisor who will assist
you during your first two years. Upon declaring a major, you
will be assigned a faculty advisor in your chosen department,
with whom you will work closely during your junior and senior
years. In addition, Student Affairs staff members provide
academic advising to all students.
Director
of Student Affairs
Director of Student Affairs is available
for counseling about course selection, registration policies,
leaves of absence, faculty issues, academic or personal difficulties,
etc., as well as questions about policies and regulations
at the College.
Disabled Student Services
Upon request and documentation, MECA provides to qualified
students reasonable accommodations to remediate the competitive
disadvantage that a disability can create in the collegiate
setting. The goal of the College is to balance on a case-by-case
basis the specific needs of its students with the programmatic
integrity, administrative resources and financial limitations
of the College. Disabled student services are coordinated
through the Student Affairs Office.
Campus Technology
Three computer labs
offer over fifty MacIntosh computers with complete web, print
and design software; a selection of slide and flatbed scanners;
and audio and video editing systems. Output capabilities include
color laser and large format drum printing. Audiovisual equipment
is also available on a check-out basis for student use, including
DAT recorders and digital video and still cameras. All MECA
students receive an email account through the campus network
and keep this account throughout their four years and as alumni.
