Tamara Szafranski, Adjunct Instructor
A graduate of both the University of Evansville, and subsequently, the University of Dayton, Tamara Szafranski has been teaching Academic Writing, College Composition, English Literature, and Gender Studies for the past sixteen years. A cancer survivor, her focus shifted away from purely academic research after her experience with leukemia eight years ago. Following a bone-marrow transplant in 2003, Tamara felt it was more important to focus on the human/relational aspects of teaching, and began examining how student/instructor interaction impacted learning in the Introductory-Level classroom. She has worked in Europe as part of EAPRIL, and has written and presented papers and discussions on Vygotskian educational theory and its importance to university classes. Aside from this, her most enjoyable professional experiences center on her interest in teaching genre fiction, including Gothic and Fantasy literature. She hopes to eventually work in Higher Education Administration in Student Advising.
