Megan O'Connell, Adjunct Associate Professor; Art History + Graphic Design
Founder of The Dead Skin Press and Co-founder of Creative Material Group, a convergence of artists from all disciplines creating and promoting an expansive range of cultural engagements, Megan O'Connell grounds her production, curation and pedagogy in the concept of Intermedia. For the past two decades, she has generated letterpress/silkscreen editions and discrete objects for prominent designers, artists, pop musicians, poets and authors. Her degrees in Book Arts [BA,University of Minnesota] and Intermedia [MA, MFA, University of Iowa] led to a 12-year stint as Director of the Typography Lab at the University of Oregon. She has offered courses in the Summer Six Program at Skidmore College and at Mildred's Lane, Eastern Pennsylvania. Her output has been distributed, collected and archived nationally and internationally. At Typecon 2006, she presented Principled Pleasure: Presswork in PDX and at the International Conference on the book she gave a paper and published an article titled Multifold Iterations.
Megan offers Critical Approaches to Contemporary Art, Design Issues + History, First-year Involve/Infuse/Inspire and an elective in Curatorial Practice.
