The Continuing Studies Department of the Maine College of Art offers open-enrollment courses for adults and teens. Adult Continuing Studies courses and classes for young artists are offered in fall, winter/spring and summer semesters. An art-focused travel program takes adults to far off places. Many classes fill quickly, so early registration is advised!

How to Sell your Photographs as a Professional - CPD 055

This workshop will explore the elements of professionalism in photography, including how to identify your market and find clients, prepare and present your portfolio, website and other professional materials, locate resources, make cost-effective use of current technologies, and keep up with the demands of your business. You will learn about the creation and selling of stock photographs, with an emphasis on finding markets in newspapers, magazines and trade journals, and greeting card publishers. Please bring the following to class: a body of work in print form (preferably 8 x 10), and your resum??. Nancy Grace Horton is a professional freelance photographer who holds a degree in business from Merrimack College. She has worked as a photojournalist for the Boston Globe, and produces photography stock that is used in advertising, editorial, and commercial work for corporations and non-profit organizations, documentary and environmental portraiture, and fine art. Her editorial work has appeared in publications including Yankee, Rolling Stone, and The New York Times. Nancy has served as Co-President of The American Society of Media Photographers.
