Pre-College 2010
A Summer Visual Arts Experience for High School Students
June 27 to July 24, 2010
Pre-College at Maine College of Art provides an opportunity for high school students to participate in an intensive month-long program in art in one of America’s most livable cities. Now in its thirty-six year, the Pre-College program offers you a real taste of life and education in a professional college of visual arts, as well as the opportunity to develop your portfolio and to earn college credit.
You choose one of five majors – painting, graphic design, photography, ceramics, or sculpture – and work with that medium in-depth. The curriculum also includes foundation classes in drawing and design that will help you improve your technical skills and strengthen your portfolio for admission to the country’s foremost schools of art and design. Studio work is complemented by art history and workshops with visiting artists. It’s not all work and no play – movie nights, beach trips, and kayaking excursions are also part of the experience.
