undergraduate program : new media

New Media surrounds us -- from camera phones to video games, instant messaging to interactive websites. It is woven deeply into daily life, into how the world is perceived and navigated. MECA's new media students challenge the lines of how artists define their work. They often create collaboratively, with mixed media, challenging conventions of painting, sculpture, drawing, and printmaking in art that raises questions of how it was made, of context and of realization. New media makes time-based, 4D art accessible and expandable. It encompasses web-based art, computer-human integration, interactive media, installation and
projection, virtual environments, and digitally-augmented performance art.
