
The Presidential Search Committee is pleased to present to the MECA community three Presidential finalists. Each candidate will spend two days on campus in February, 2010.

Campus Visit Presidential Finalists
Dr. David Rosen earned his Ph.D and M.A. in English from Johns Hopkins University and his BA from Haverford College. He is currently Senior Vice President and Chief Academic Officer at Woodbury University, a small University in Burbank California that is known primarily for its art and design programs. David has over 30 years of experience in higher education in administrative and teaching positions and is author of both fiction and non-fiction works. David will be visiting campus on February 18th & 19th.
Hon. Glenn Cummings is pursuing his Ph.D in Higher Education Management, Ed.D at the University of Pennsylvania, he has earned a M.A. of Public Administration from Harvard University, a MA in Teaching from Brown University and a B.A. form Ohio Wesleyan University. He is currently Deputy Assistant Secretary for the U.S. Department of Education and responsible for leadership in policy development for post-secondary education access and completion priorities. Glenn, former Speaker of the House, Maine House of Representatives, is a Portland native. Glen will be visiting campus on February 22nd & 23rd.
Dr. Donald Tuski earned his Ph.D and M.A. in Anthropology from Michigan State University and his B.A. from Olivet College, Michigan. Don began his career as Head Resident of Olivet College and through the years has served as adjunct instructor and Vice President and Dean for Academic Affairs until ultimately entrusted as President of Olivet College. Don and his wife Louise will be visiting campus on February 25th & 26th.
There will be an opportunity for everyone who attends a forum or meeting with a candidate to provide feedback. We are pleased with the progress of the search and look forward to this final phase.

- Demonstrated management and leadership experience in a visual arts institution, college, or university or cognate experience.
- The capacity to attract and secure leadership gifts from individual, foundation, and corporate donors to further the mission of Maine College of Art.
- Proven experience working with trustees/board of directors and other external constituents.
- Proven ability to set a clear, positive agenda for the institution and to achieve strong results.
- An understanding of and respect for working artists.
- A terminal degree in chosen field of professional endeavor. In lieu of a terminal degree, the candidate must possess outstanding training and exemplary record of success in the administration of higher education institutions.
- A risk taker who is energetic and flexible.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; a persuasive advocate for the College.
- Integrity in all situations; takes clear and consistent positions on important issues; demonstrates intellectual honesty.
- Places high value on interaction with students and faculty.
