- Each summer, new students to MECA are invited to participate in a mail art exhibition. They receive a packet in the mail that is filled with small pieces of art made by current MECA students, a blank card, and an envelope. There are instructions that direct them create their own art using the blank card. Once they are finished, they use the envelope (which has already been stamped and addressed) to mail it back to MECA. The art is then displayed for the first weeks of the semester in the Friedman Student Gallery. It is a wonderful way to welcome the entering students and immediately engage them with the MECA community.
