Tim Gaudreau, MFA 2002
I believe artists have considerable responsibility as cultural instigators to ask questions, raise issues and challenge assumptions. As a conceptual eco-artist, I use my work and my voice to address our cultural (dis)connection from Nature in order that we may reconsider our relationship to land and resources. I create public work using photography, illustration, installation, sculpture and video that often functions outside of traditional object-making systems to raise environmental issues to a greater audience. By first provoking and maintaining public consciousness, we can then challenge assumptions and modify our behavior to return to a harmonious relationship with Nature. Through my work, I intend to create collaborations that activate community and empower people to make a lasting difference.
