Richard Metz
- Since I graduated from MECA MFA program in 2000, the artworks I have made have been of Creatures. These works all relate to my passion for exaggerated cartoons, carnivalesque costumes, and a desire to live in a more open, humane, and just world. Working with animal/human forms allows me to both express my thoughts on humanity and be a imaginative as I want. I have tried to combine a playful, goofy awkwardness with a more structured craftsmanship; a love of fun with a serious effort to participate in our culture. I am 46, married to an art teacher/landscape designer, have two musical teenage sons, and live just outside harried Philadelphia. For work I teach high school art. The work I have included is a survey of the last five years.
