A professional photographer once told me that an unbiased photo cannot be
taken. Every aspect of a photo, the subject, the angle, the lighting, the
exposure, all were chosen by the photographer. I'm trying to come close.
There are no messages to be delivered with my photos, just compositions.
With light, color, shadow, shape I try to create nearly abstract works. I
don't want purely abstract imagery, as I want to show the actual objects
that make up the composition. In essence, I am trying to capture for the
viewer small compositions that they would see for themselves if they
stopped and looked for just a little while.
It may be considered bias, even a bit preachy to tell people to slow down
through my photos. But, I tell no stories with them, I reveal no
histories. The viewer is free to create whatever story they want from my
images. Their stories may extend far beyond the images or, they may
simply appreciate the image for its own sake. Or, they may simply turn
away.
It is up to them.
