Erin Sweeney '94
- Erin Sweeney is a New Hampshire-based artist whose sculpture and books
have been exhibited primarily in the Northeast, most recently at the
"Small Works" exhibition at 80 Washington Square East Galleries at New
York University in New York City and the "Beauty in Building Materials"
exhibition at the JPArt Market in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. Sweeney
graduated from the Maine College of Art in 1994 with a BFA in Sculpture.
She is currently head of the department and a full-time art teacher at
Contoocook Valley Regional High School in Peterborough, New Hampshire,
where she teaches Drawing, Art Foundations, Sculpture, and Bookbinding.
Her studio is located in downtown Peterborough. She also hosts several
shows a year with local contemporary artists in alternative spaces. "The
Gas Station Show" is a twice yearly event in Peterborough. She is
currently working on combining her artist books with her sculpture and to
further this exploration, she will study this summer in Vermont at
"MassArt," through a grant from the New Hampshire State Council on the
Arts, and in North Carolina at the "Penland School of Crafts" on a
work-study scholarship.
