The photograph can complicate both what is known and what, in approach, is
expected. This body of work maps divergent trajectories across established
landscapes, such as the museum, a space designed for public and private
meditation. Compelled by the potential of recording displacement and
disjunction, I seek confirmation of the in-between, of the unscripted
dramas of convergent and prismatic locations suggested by architectural
junctures and the eye of the camera. My images engage the spaces within
and those peripheral to the center of scripted space, inverting the
assumed visual hierarchy. By destabilizing our relationship with object
and environment, figure and ground, my work challenges and re-calibrates
the pose and the optics of looking.
