Rachel Katz
MFA '00
Rachel earned her BFA in Drawing at Arizona State University and is currently
the Assistant to Graduate Studies at MECA. Her work has been shown at Step
Gallery in Tempe, Arizona, the Harry Wood Art Gallery in Tempe, Arizona,
Maine Arts Gallery in Wiscasset, Thomas Moser Cabinetmakers in New York City
and the Center for Maine Contemporary Art, among other venues. Of her Alumni/ae
Exhibition 2003 piece, she writes, "When Galileo turned his telescope
to the night sky he forever altered our sense of who we are and what we see.
He mediated the experience of the night sky through his telescope. . . This
work represents a dialog about every day, past and present, finite and infinite,
control and freedom, and indoor and outdoor space."
