"Ingrained", show of work by majors in Woodworking & Furniture Design

Majors in the Woodworking & Furniture Design program at Maine College of Art will mount “Ingrained,” a selection of student work on display in the Friedman Student Gallery from February 20 to March 5. This annual student exhibition is organized by the seniors and includes the work of juniors and seniors. An artist reception is planned for March 2 at 5 p.m. in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walk.

The Woodworking & Furniture Design major was added two years ago and continues to grow. New studio facilities were added in the Porteous Building and a third faculty member was hired.  In the program, students learn practices such as joinery, carving and tool use as well as the history of furniture, professional development as an artist and furniture techniques.

Participating artists include: Sarah Ameigh,  Lea DeForest,  Michael Gallagher,  John Gardiner, Erika Hoffman, Heather Leonard,  Gardner Macintosh III,  Daniel MacLean,  Abby McLees, Bronwen  Berlekamp O’Wril, Nicholas Patrizio, Caitlin Purinton, Kelly Rudman and Nicholas Zalisk.

The Friedman Student Gallery is located in the Porteous Building at 522 Congress Street in Portland. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
