Corridor at Sea: The Performative Object

June 15 to August 19

Read an interview with the curator from the Portland Phoenix.

The summer exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art at Maine College featured video performances, site-specific installation, new live performance and sculptural objects by Garrick Imatani, Pam Lins, Ohad Meromi and Halsey Rodman. Imatani, a professor in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at MECA, curated “Corridor at Sea: The Performative Object” which opened on June 15 and continued through August 19.

In his curatorial statement, Imatani explains, "Whether using their own bodies, staging collaborative productions, or employing organic stand-ins, the artists in this exhibitiongenerate sculptural objects and installation-oriented residue which embody the act of performance and fleshy presence."
